How to Get Polio Vaccination for Saudi Arabia?

Travelers from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia need to receive a polio vaccination at least four weeks before departure. As per GACA’s circular on January 7, travelers from Afghanistan, Pakistan, DR Congo, Yemen and Mozambique will be required to administer Polio Vaccine not less than 4 weeks before the traveling date. This regulation will be enforced starting February 1.

Steps to Obtain Your Polio Vaccination Certificate:

Step 1: Visit nearest Vaccination Center
Visit the nearest vaccination center or District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital to receive polio drops. Ensure your details are accurately entered into the NIMS system.

Step 2: Apply for the Vaccination Certificate
Open the NIMS website to apply for your certificate. Input your CNIC number, expiry date, and mobile number.

Step 3: Pay due fees and download vaccination Certificate
Pay 100 PKR per certificate online and download it instantly. The certificate includes a QR code for verification, eliminating the need for additional endorsements.

Certificate Validity:

  • Oral Polio Vaccination (OPV): Valid for 6 months.
  • Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV): Valid for 12 months.
For Umrah Pilgrims, there is an additional requirement of the Meningitis Vaccine which should be administered not less than 10 days before the traveling date. (Details will be shared soon)

What else do we know about this Rule?

  • Mandatory Countries: Travelers from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Mozambique, DR Congo, and Yemen must prove their polio vaccination at departure airport and upon arrival in KSA.
  • Transit Exemption: If your transit in Saudi Arabia is less than 12 hours, then Polio vaccination is not required.
  • Always check with your airline for updates, as policies may change.
